Osprey Club visits Lyndon Nature Reserve

On Tuesday 23rd May 16 children from our Osprey and Ornithology club went to visit Lyndon Nature Reserve at Rutland Water.  We were fortunate enough to see Maya, the female Osprey and her chicks on the nest, as well as Maya's partner,  33, fly back to his family.  As well as the Ospreys we saw Moorhens, Chaffinches, Reed Warblers, Crow, Swans, Cormorants and many other birds!  Thank you to Ken and his team of volunteers who lent us binoculars to be able to see these beautiful birds up close, and help us to learn more about theses rare birds.

This was the final session of the club; over the last 5 weeks we have had great fun building our own osprey nest, making fat balls and bird feeders from pine cones, as well as looking at the species of birds that come to visit us here on the school grounds.
