Term 6

Club Descriptions

Active Fun – Terms 5 and 6

Foundation & KS1 Active Fun Club is energetic and fun filled, encouraging us to be active through fun games and activities. It’s a great opportunity to play all the games we love with our friends, (that we can’t always do in PE) like Mr Crocodile, Fire and Ice, Sharks and Fishes.

Chance to Shine Cricket – Terms 5 and 6

The Chance to Shine after school cricket club being run by Leicestershire County Cricket Club, is an opportunity for children to acquire, develop and apply skills in a more cricket specific setting. It also allows children to play with and learn from children from different classes, while having fun through a range of inclusive and stimulating activities.

Chess Club – Term 6

Chess club is open to those who are new to chess as well as those that already play. Children with no previous experience of chess will be taught the basic laws of the game in small groups. Those more experienced members of the club will be encouraged to help out with new players, as well as play against each other.

Craft Club – Term 6

Miss Pickering will be running a craft club with a summery theme. Using mixed media, the children will create collages, try printing and use paints to create some wonderfully summery pieces of craft and artwork.

Cupcake Decorating – Terms 5 and 6

This popular club helps children express their creative side as they decorate cupcakes with Mrs Dowling. Each week there will be a different theme to the cupcakes.

Drama – Terms 5 and 6

Helen O’Grady Drama Club. As well as performing on stage our sessions will help your child: Feel good about themselves, speak and move confidently, meet new friends, improve English language skills, be part of a team, develop excellent performance and theatre skills.

Futsal – Terms 5 and 6

Futsal is a format of five-a-side football that is played extensively throughout the world. The term ‘Futsal’ is an abbreviation of the Portuguese ‘futebol de salão’ which translated literally mean ‘indoor football’. Futsal is played on our astro with a ball which is smaller and heavier than the outdoor football and has a reduced bounce.

Mad Science – Term 6 TBC

Agent Lab. Mad Science spy academy will help you sharpen your special operative skills as you learn about the secret world of espionage. The key to being a great spy is your ability to use science to “sniff” out your suspects and uncover their secrets. Step into the shoes of a detective—uncover the science involved in evidence gathering and analysis. Using the power of observation and the Inspect-Kit, our young detectives will have all they need to get started with their investigations. Children use the gear in their kit to find, collect, and analyse evidence. Then, they will explore fingerprint analysis and use the Fingerprint Finder to place and identify UV prints.

Nature Detectives – Term 6

Teaching children outdoors encourages curiosity and stimulates all the senses in a way that indoor learning simply can't do. Education research by King’s College London has found that children who spend time learning in natural environments perform better in academic studies. Mr Fraser and Mrs Howitt will be encouraging children to embrace the natural world around them here at Langham.

One for All Cricket – Terms 5 and 6

Tennis – Terms 5 and 6

Langham after School Tennis Club is a great way to learn all of the basic shots and get an understanding of match play as well as fun games to develop coordination and speed. This club is linked to Oakham Tennis Club and children will have the opportunity to take their Tennis further after the course. If you wish to do this, just speak to Dan who will point you in the right direction.
