Langham CE Primary School Curriculum

EPIC Learning

Our promise to the children is that we will provide an EPIC curriculum which they will enjoy and engage with. They will make progress: knowing more, remembering more, being able to do more and having a desire to learn more!

The curriculum is inclusive and accessible to all and strives to develop creative thinkers and do-ers. Topics are chosen and lessons are created which will engage the children through their level of challenge and ambition, their relevance and their topical themes.

A clear progression document ensures learning is built on and children’s knowledge becomes deeper and broader. We know our children, the barriers they have and their strengths too, our pedagogy ensures the curriculum is both inclusive and creative.

Lifelong Learning

The underlying principle of our curriculum is to develop Responsible, Ready, Respectful, Resilient, Reflective, Resourceful Learners who can step out into the world as rounded and caring world citizens, with transferable life skills, who can manage future life challenges.

Our Christian vision and ethos: Loving life in all its fullness, loving learning, loving laughter, loving Langham permeates all curriculum subjects. Generating a love of learning through an ambitious, exciting and relevant curriculum encourages children to know more, remember more and want more!

The curriculum is planned to develop substantive and disciplinary knowledge providing a knowledge engaged curriculum where children develop knowledge and understanding alongside skills and competencies.

At Langham school we believe in preparing our pupils to live in culturally diverse modern Britain and to become socially mobile we must provide a curriculum that facilitates learners’ exposure to valuable lifelong experiences and builds knowledge enabling them to be successful.

This cultural capital is developed in our curriculum through planning each subject with breath of opportunity and experience, school trips, visitors, residentials, clubs and enrichment.
