Bad Weather Contingency Plans
Severe Weather Procedures
If there is a severe weather warning our procedures are as follows:
Parents will be alerted via email and Class Dojo.
We will also publish the information in the News Section of this website.
Please do not try to call the school office. We cannot guarantee that anyone will be in school and we need to keep the line clear for emergencies. If nothing is posted using these channels please assume that school is open.
If the weather becomes too severe in the day, we will contact families as soon as possible regarding school closure.
The RCC website also carries information on school closures, although it is not generally updated until after 9am. We will also ensure the School office is manned by staff who live in Langham.
The telephone number of the bus company, should you need to contact them is:-
Mark Bland Travel 01780 751671.
If, as a result of a heavy snowfall during the day we decide to send the children home early we will again publish this information on the school website, email and Class Dojo, we will also notify RCC.
We will also need to contact all the families of children who use the bus. It is vital that we have up to date contact details in the office, with several alternative contacts and numbers and, if appropriate permission, for your child to go to a friend’s house if you are not at home.
We must emphasise how important it is to have these contingency plans in place – we don’t want to have children stranded at school overnight, and of course we cannot send children home if you have not been contacted, or have not given permission for your child to go to a friend’s house if you are not at home
